As with all stone products, Nouveau is subject to variation in color, shade and veining. These characteristics are inherent in natural stone and are part of its beauty. All Stone products must be sealed with a good quality penetrating sealer.
The brass inlay is natural brass, with no coating or protective sealants. The brass may oxidize over time, which contributes to the natural patina of the product.
This is an unlacquered brass finish and it is normal for brass to oxidize and patina (darken) over time. For some, this is a highly desirable characteristic of the material. Take note that the patina process may be uneven when it begins, but over time will have a consistent appearance. If you wish to maintain the original luster of the material, a cleaning product specific to Brass, such as Brasso, can be applied. Make sure to avoid the surrounding stones, as the polish/cleaner could alter their appearance.
